Built for children. Built to forget.

Shivnex exists so boarding-school children can safely call home — nothing else. This policy covers the Shivnex parent app, the school kiosk and the staff dashboard. Last updated: July 2026.

Who we are

Shivnex is a supervised video-calling service for boarding schools, built and operated by Skandev Solutions LLP (“we”). The school you or your child belongs to decides who may call whom; we process data on the school’s instructions to make those calls happen.

What we collect

We keep the minimum needed to run supervised calls: student roster details the school provides (name, dorm/group, date of birth); parent/guardian contact details the school registers (name, email, optional phone, relationship); call metadata (who called whom, when, how long, connection quality) — never recordings: calls are end-to-end live video and we do not record, store or watch them; wallet/billing records where a school enables per-minute calling (balances and a transaction ledger); and basic device/technical data from the school kiosk (device health, network type) to keep the service reliable.

What we never do

We do not record calls. We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers. We do not profile children for analytics or advertising. Children never browse, search or receive messages in Shivnex — the kiosk only places calls to guardians the school has approved.

Sign-in and verification

Parents sign in with a one-time code sent to their registered email (or phone), or with Google Sign-In using the same registered email. We verify the contact belongs to you before any call can reach you. Self sign-up is impossible — only a school can register a guardian.

How long we keep data

Call metadata auto-deletes after 180 days. Security and audit logs are kept for at least one year, then auto-expire. One-time codes and call-connection data expire within hours. Billing ledgers are retained as financial records. Roster and guardian records live for as long as the school keeps you enrolled.

Where data lives

Data is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region. Emails are delivered via our email provider; calls are relayed only when a direct connection is impossible, and relays never store media.

Your rights (DPDP)

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can ask for access to your data, correction, or erasure — schools have a one-click right-to-be-forgotten tool that permanently deletes a student’s or guardian’s data and anonymises the audit trail. Contact your school first (they are the data fiduciary for roster data), or write to us directly.

Permissions the apps use

The parent app and kiosk use the camera and microphone only during a live call, and notifications so an incoming call can ring your phone. Nothing runs in the background outside calls.
